Three Families. 9 Children. Two News Segments.

Last week, media outlets from KTLA5, ABC7, & Univision34 did a series of broadcasts from West Rancho Dominguez/East Gardena showcasing our ongoing issues from the environmental issues created by the RV's, the crime and families living on our streets. We spent the weekend working to get resources to those families in the segments.

On Monday morning, we worked to get appointments with Harbor Interfaith in San Pedro so the housing process could begin. These are the efforts your Chamber of Commerce is doing to reshape our streets into cleaner, safer areas. Getting the homeless to accept services, removing the nonworking, unregistered vehicles, reporting & removing the waste and having the media showcase our efforts.

On Wednesday, August 9th, homeless outreach service providers were on the streets visiting the RV's and following up on services. We are preparing those individuals along Main Street for the upcoming August 22nd clean up. Fortunately this morning, we had one adult accept our help and she was driven to a treatment program. With help of Compton Sheriff Station, we ask the RV's parked near driveways to move their vehicles 100 feet from the aprons. CHP joined us and towed one vehicle. Our partnerships are helping all of us.

Street by street. Vehicle by Vehicle. Fire Hydrant by Fire Hydrant. There is nothing simple or easy with the work being performed.
