The RV Pilot Program is scheduled to take effect at the end of May. This program will remove up to 75 nonworking, unregistered, no ownership RV's from the streets throughout the Unincorporated LA County areas. The plan is to destroy those 75 RV's and remove them from circulation. In addition, the county will take up to 15 RVs that are registered & in working condition to a newly created SafePark location where these individuals will have a place to park 24 hours/7 days a week and receive services including housing options.
I want to be very clear with our businesses, the enforcement piece once they are removed has not been shared with us. Therefore, I am asking EVERY business owner, building owner & resident to send emails to Supervisor Holly Mitchell's office demanding official RED CURBS to be implemented immediately. Her office has the power to make this happen.
If you are a member of the Harbor Gateway Chamber of Commerce, I have sent a direct email with Supervisor Mitchell's email address.
For all nonmembers, please use the email addresses listed below:
Kyle Lee, Constituent Services for East Gardena, West Rancho Dominguez
email klee@bos.lacounty.gov
April Johnson, Assistant Director, Constituent Services
Isela Gracian, Senior Deputy, Homeless & Housing
Lily Sofiani, Assistant Deputy, Health & Wellness
The preliminary starting location for the first displacement clean up is 157th between Redondo Beach Blvd & Avalon along San Pedro. The East Gardena Community Association has been very vocal regarding the issues impacting their residential areas.
As I have shared many times over the last few months, if you are not sending emails to the Supervisor's office or attending those community meetings, your areas are being overlooked. As a Chamber, we are reporting every day, 7 days a week. We are bringing in the resources to help assist with the homeless.
As for the clean up locations, here are my thoughts.
Broadway between 130th & Compton Blvd
Compton Blvd between Figueroa St & San Pedro
Maple Ave and Compton Blvd
157th between Figueroa & Broadway
Athens Way between 129th & 131st
Avalon between Rosecrans & Alondra
Broadway between 157th & Alondra (Several businesses do not want this area cleaned up)
I would encourage everyone to start sending an additional email with the locations they would like to see cleaned up and in the order of preference. As always, please include us in your communication to the Supervisor's office.
If you have any questions, please send me an email David@thehgcc.com
