A Return to Civility Part 2.

85 years young and living on a bench. This is my reason for continuing to get up everyday and find a way, a resource or some help for those folks experiencing homelessness in our communities.

The work is challenging & at times heart breaking. Imagine a 50 year old living on our streets in the business corridor struggling with cancer & no treatment plan. Do I wait until it is too late? Never. She begins treatment this week and will transition from the street to a shelter. I will accompany her for treatments.

Clean, Safe Streets is more complicated than most people realize. It's requiring me to rethink how I work with the homeless. Getting them involved in the process of cleaning up their areas. I do not believe the county, city or state has sufficient resources to house every homeless person nor do I believe every homeless person is ready to be housed. What we can do together is get the trash picked up & get them involved in the process. The county is providing dumpsters in the Unincorporated LA County areas. I am providing the trash bags and purchasing the tools they need to pick up the waste. Illegal dumping continues to plague all of our business corridors.

SEE THEM REPORT THEM

Call 911 or your local Sheriff's Station

Compton Sheriff (310) 605 6500

Century Sheriff (323) 568 4800

Carson Sheriff (310) 830 1123

IF it does not seem right, It likely isn't right.

This is a safety issue for them and safety issue for us.

See It Report It

Homelessness & Illegal Dumping work hand in hand. If the streets can remain clean, the less likely the homeless will gather these unwanted treasures. The more requests that are submitted for specific locations, the more resources will be deployed. Every Report Matters.

Catch someone dumping live?

Do not attempt to stop them.

Call law enforcement

Attempt to safely take a video capturing the license plate information. Photos will work but a video is better for prosecuting.

Within the City of Los Angeles, you can upload the video & report the illegal dumper by using the MYLA311 app

Within the Unincorporated LA County Areas, email dumping@dpw.lacounty.gov

Union Pacific Railroad Property visit https://www.up.com/aboutup/reference/whotocall/

Caltrans Areas, call CHP
