This event is held to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement. Law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes run with a lighted torch, symbolizing the "Flame of Hope," which remains lit until it is carried into the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics competitions. This run involved every law enforcement agency. It is a truly inspiring day. We were invited to attend a special luncheon which was held at LAPD Southeast station. Last year, we donated the food on behalf of our business community.
